Leetonia girls register first team golf win

COITSVILLE — Leetonia’s girls golf team won its first match in school history with a 244-245 win over Lowellville on Wednesday at Bedford Trails.

For Leetonia, Haleigh Brock had a 59, Billie Sue Gibson 60, Katie Soupal 62 and Lani Ogle 63.

Malvern 187, United 218

MINERVA — Malvern downed United, 187-218, Wednesday at Great Trail.

Parker Berdine topped the Eagles with a 50. Bryce McKenzie added a 52, Mikey Bardo 57 and Brant Hahlen 59.

United is 1-1 on the season.

South Range 163, Struthers 187

LOWELLVILLE–The South Range golf team defeated Struthers, 163-187, Wednesday at Knoll Run.

The Raiders improve to 3-1, while the Wildcats drop to 1-2.

South Range was led by medalist Kaiden Sykes with a 37. Also for the Raiders, Garrett Sheets shot a 38, Gavin Batdorff 43 and Gavin Pahanish 45.

Marlington 166, Salem 214

ALLIANCE — Marlington secured a 166-214 win over Salem on Wednesday during boys golf play at Tannenhauf.

Zach Closky had a 39 to lead the Dukes.

For Salem (0-2), Lane Rhodes had a 50, Dylan Ulrich 54, Nick Colbert 55 and Carter Reid 55.

Salem plays in the Alliance Invitational on Tuesday at Alliance Country Club.

Columbiana 198, East Palestine 202

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s girls golf team beat East Palestine 198-202 on Wednesday at Valley.

For Columbiana (1-1), Jessica Himes had a 42, Morgan Dunlap 47, Emma Rae Foy 51 and Isabella Travis 58.

For East Palestine, Taylor Bycroft had a 48, Payton Sherry 48, Abbie Andre 50 and Morgan Rutledge 56.

Columbiana hosts Cardinal Mooney Friday. East Palestine is at the Lady Eagle Invitational today.

William Moransky Invitational

MINERAL RIDGE — Mineral Ridge knocked off defending champion Columbiana to win the William Moransky Golf Invitational on Wednesday at Salem Hills.

Mineral Ridge shot 335 to second-place Columbiana’s 353.

Leading the way for the Rams was junior Jake Sylak who shot a 72 (35-37), junior Anthony Ragazzine with an 84 (39-45), senior Antonio LaMonica with an 89 (45-44) and senior Dylan Mazzupappa with a 90 (43-47). Sylak was the overall medalist. The 335 is a school record for the Rams for low team score for 18 holes.

For the Clippers, Tyler Anderson had a 73 (37-36), Riley McElwain 88, Sean Whitehead 90 and Trevor Dearing 102.
