Quakers power past Boardman

BOARDMAN–The Salem volleyball team took down Boardman 25-23, 15-25, 25-19, 25-23 on Saturday.

The Quakers move to 3-0 on the young season.

Jenna McClish turned in a standout performance defensively for the Quakers with 38 digs. Rylie Troy also had a fine all-around game with six kills, nine assists and 18 digs. Elly Exline contributed 11 kills, 16 digs and a pair of aces. Jaden Hamilton and Hayden Carner each added 10 digs. Kaelyn Helmick was a presence around the net with four blocks. Taylor Troy and Kaylee Freeman had 11 and nine assists respectively.

Salem won the jv match 25-19, 18-25, 25-20. For the Quakers, Zoie Reid had six kills, Emma Hochadel 18 assists and Kylie Skinner 20 digs.

Salem is at Minerva Tuesday.

Warriors split

BELOIT–The West Branch volleyball team split a pair of matches with Lakeview and Crestwood Saturday at West Branch High School.

The Warriors beat Lakeview 28-26, 25-19. Elise Wallace had eight points, 14 assists and two aces. Sammie Tuel added nine points, three aces and four blocks. Sydney Mercer had six kills. Jessica Bock added four kills.

The West Branch jv team beat Lakeview 25-18, 25-21. Grace Silmon had two kills.

The Warriors lost to Crestwood 25-19, 26-24. Elise Wallace had 24 assists. Sydney Mercer added nine kills, while Riley Tuel had eight kills.

West Branch also lost the jv match 25-23, 25-19. Ariah Hagan had five assists.

The Warriors are now 5-1 overall and are at Alliance Tuesday.

Devils host Spike Off

LISBON–The Lisbon volleyball team won two matches and lost one as part of the Lisbon Volleyball Spike Off tournament held Saturday at Lisbon High School.

The Blue Devils beat Valley Christian 25-5, 25-9 in their first match, with Maddie Liberati supplying 17 points, 10 aces and 10 digs.

In Lisbon’s second match, the Blue Devils beat Steubenville Catholic Central 25-22, 17-25, 25-6. Liberati had another big game with 15 points, 12 aces and seven kills. Callie Steed added 12 kills and three blocks.

The Blue Devils lost 25-21, 25-8, 25-16 to Mineral Ridge in their final match. Liberati had 10 points, 10 kills and 21 digs for Lisbon. Alivia Leyman added 12 digs.

The Blue Devils are now 3-2 overall and host East Palestine Tuesday.

Minerva was also at the tournament and won one match, while losing two.

The Lions defeated Warren JFK 25-10, 25-5. They lost to Mineral Ridge 25-18, 25-11 and lost to Malvern 25-14, 25-16.

Columbiana 3,

McDonald 0

COLUMBIANA–The Columbiana volleyball team powered through McDonald 25-11, 25-6, 25-23 on Saturday.

The Clippers are now 3-1 overall. Tori Long supplied eight kills, 10 aces and six digs for Columbiana.

Also for the Clippers, Grace Witmer had 16 assists, two kills and two aces, while Marissa Makosky handed out 13 assists to go with three aces. Madison Moser had a solid game with seven kills, two aces and two blocks.

Columbiana hosts Southern in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Tuesday.

Toronto 3,

Leetonia 1

LEETONIA–Toronto beat Leetonia 25-20, 24-26, 25-13, 25-21 in volleyball action Saturday.

Megan Rosko had seven aces for the Bears, while Samantha Schneider had six kills and Elyssa Jones had 14 assists.

Toronto won the jv match 25-23, 19-25, 25-23.

Leetonia hosts Wellsville Monday.

Rebels win a pair

COLUMBIANA–The Crestview volleyball team picked up a pair of wins over Alliance and Ravenna Southeast Saturday at Crestview High School.

The Rebels beat Alliance 25-16, 25-18.

Lucy Montgomery had a busy game with 23 assists, six kills, eight digs and two blocks. Brenna Auer had five kills and 14 digs. Molly Emch had seven kills. Shelby Rambo had four blocks. Sidney Rambo had five kills and three blocks. Tess Neville added six kills.

The Rebels also swept Southeast 25-10, 25-12.

For Crestview (3-0), Brenna Auer had four kills and 10 digs. Tess Neville added seven aces, four kills and two blocks. Molly Emch had six kills and three blocks, while Amelia Montgomery had seven digs. Lucy Montgomery had 19 assists.

The Crestview jv team also won a pair of matches.

The Rebels beat Alliance 28-26, 24-26, 25-15. Hannah Cope had nine kills, seven points and six digs.

Crestview beat Southeast 25-9, 25-22. Lainey Mecure had seven points and three kills.
