Salem sweeps Ursuline

SALEM–The Salem volleyball team opened the home portion of its schedule by sweeping Ursuline 25-14, 25-12, 25-17 on Thursday.

For the Quakers, Elly Exline had four aces and 10 kills. Rylie Troy had six aces and three kills. Jaden Hamilton had 10 kills and two blocks.

The Quakers are at Boardman Saturday.

Jackson-Milton 3, Western Reserve 0

NORTH JACKSON–Western Reserve fell to Jackson-Milton 21-25, 25-21, 25-12, 18-25, 15-13 in volleyball action on Thursday.

Dani Vuletich had 17 kills for the Blue Devils (2-2), while Laura Sigworth had 16 points and 26 assists. Morgan Donithan had 30 digs.

South Range 3, Poland 1

GREENFORD–The South Range volleyball team defeated Poland 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21 on Thursday.

For the Raiders, Anna Primavera had 11 kills and 11 digs, Izzy Lamparty had 10 kills, Reagan Irons had 20 digs and five assists and Emily Irons had 30 assists.

Southern 3,

Leetonia 0

SALINEVILLE–The Southern volleyball team opened Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 25-19, 25-12, 26-24 win over Leetonia.

The Indians (2-1, 1-0) were led by Erin Boyle with 10 points and six kills, while Maddie Paxson had six points, five kills and 10 digs.

Kyleigh Ketchum added 11 assists, while Cheyenne Utt had 11 points and two kills. Sophia Beatty chipped in two kills.

Southern won the jv match 25-23, 26-24.

Grace Brothers had nine points and four aces for Southern. Kya McCulley had seven points. Hannah Price had four kills.

Southern is at Conotton Valley Monday.

East Palestine 3, Columbiana 1

EAST PALESTINE–The East Palestine volleyball team ran off its third straight win to start the season by defeating Columbiana 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The Bulldogs are now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the EOAC. Columbiana falls to 2-1, 1-1.

For the Bulldogs, Paige Snyder had 15 points, eight kills and four aces, while Malynn Bistarkey had nine kills and 10 digs. Olivia Figley added 13 kills, Emily Berger had 14 points and 11 kills. Morgan Cheurco had a busy night with 34 assists.

For the Clippers, Tori Long powered the offense with 16 kills, while Madison Moser had 12 kills and 11 points and Maci Linhart had 11 points and 15 digs. Grace Witmer had 22 assists, while Marissa Makosky had 14 assists.

Mineral Ridge 3, Sebring 0

MINERAL RIDGE–The Mineral Ridge volleyball team swept Sebring 25-12, 25-8, 25-18 in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference action Thursday.

Kendra Shields had 11 digs for Sebring, while Olivia Hawk had six blocks and Aebi D’Ostroph had seven assists. Sebring is now 0-4 overall.

MIneral Ridge won the jv match 25-11, 25-11.

Lisbon 3, United 1

HANOVERTON — Lisbon recorded a 14-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-19 win over United on Thursday in EOAC play.

Lisbon is 1-1 and 1-1 in the league.

For the Devils, Maddie Liberati had 18 points, 13 kills and 14 digs. Callie Steed had 12 kills, four blocks and six digs. Brooke VanGeisen had 14 points and four kills. United is 0-3, 0-2. Tori Tschappatt had 19 kills and 19 points. Kyleigh Daggy had 10 aces, three kills and 19 points. Lauren Delvichio and Haley Dees had 11 assists each.

Lisbon won the jayvee portion 25-15, 26-24. Tabby Ketchum had 13 points for the winners. McKenna Dailey added 11 points.

Lisbon hosts a tournament on Saturday. The Devils begin with Valley Christian at 9:30 a.m.

United hosts Leetonia Wednesday.
