Salem slams Minerva

SALEM — Salem’s varsity volleyball team steamrolled Minerva 25-8, 25-7, 25-13 on Thursday.

Elly Exline and Jaden Hamilton powered the Quakers with nine kills apiece, while Hayden Carner added five kills.

Taylor Troy had a solid night serving with 15 points and four aces, while her sister Rylie added 10 points, three aces and nine digs. Kaylee Freeman distributed 24 assists.

The Quakers swept the jv match. Emma Hochadel had 12 assists, while Autumn Little had four kills and Kylie Skinner six digs.

Salem is now 10-4 overall and hosts a Volley for the Cure match against Crestview Saturday.

West Branch 3,

Alliance 1

BELOIT–The West Branch volleyball team rode a dominant final set to a 25-11, 23-25, 26-24, 25-4 victory over Alliance Thursday.

The Warriors improve to 12-3 overall and 5-2 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.

Sammie Tuel helped power the Warriors with 19 points and six aces, while Elise Wallace provided 28 assists and three blocks. Jessica Bock added 10 kills. Riley Tuel had nine kills.

Kaitlyn Greiner added three blocks.

West Branch won the jv match 25-20, 25-10.

Skyler Greeneisen had four aces, five points and four kills for the Warriors, while Grace Slimon and Ariah Hagan each had seven assists. Claire Brunner also had four kills.

Crestview 3,

LaBrae 2

COLUMBIANA — It was a performance worthy of primetime for the Crestview volleyball team.

Playing in front of a live television audience thanks to MyYTV, the Rebels secured a thrilling 25-11, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-10 win over LaBrae in a key All-American Conference showdown on Thursday.

The Rebels, ranked sixth in the Div. III state coaches poll, are 14-0 and 7-0 in the league.

For Crestview, Tess Neville had 23 kills, four aces, five digs and nine points. Brenna Auer had 14 digs, six kills and 15 points. Molly Emch had 18 kills, seven digs and four points. Sidney Rambo had nine kills, while Shelby Rambo had eight kills. Lucy Montgomery had 58 assists and 15 blocks. Amelia Montgomery had 21 digs, 12 points, three aces and two kills.

LaBrae falls to 11-4 and 6-2 in the league.

Tiana Drake had 20 kills for the Vikings.

Crestview won the jayvee portion, 25-5, 25-13. Alycia Flowers had seven kills and two digs.

Crestview’s reserves are 14-0.

The Rebels are next at Salem for a Saturday afternoon showdown.

Columbiana 3, Southern 0

SALINEVILLE–The Columbiana volleyball team prevailed over Southern 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 on Thursday.

The Indians fall to 4-10 overall.

For Southern, Cheyenne Utt had eight points and four kills, Maddie Paxson had 13 kills, Erin Boyle had eight kills, Delaniey Mellott added 12 assists.

For the Clippers, Grace Witmer had eight kills, 10 assists, six points and eight digs. Tori Long had nine kills, 14 digs and four points. Maci Linhart had 12 digs and four points. Madison Moser had 12 points and three kills. Maddie Witherow had five kills. Southern won the jv match 25-27, 25-17, 25-22.

For the Indians, Grace Brothers had seven points and four kills, Katie Calderon had seven points, Laryn Jackson had seven points and two kills.

For Columbiana, Madison Burbick had 12 points and five aces. Addie Zohnd had five kills.

Southern hosts Wellsville Tuesday.

Columbiana will play at Western Reserve on Monday.

Leetonia 0

WELLSVILLE — Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference-leading Wellsville made short work of Leetonia 25-3, 25-3, 25-6 on Thursday.

Wellsville is 10-2 and 8-0 in the league.

For the Tigers, Emily McNicol had 20 assists; Meaghan Nixon six kills and three aces; Emma Smith seven kills; Greta Cartwright three aces and five assists; Gia Pucci two aces and five kills.

Wellsville won the jayvee portion, 25-5, 25-12. Paige Green had 17 assists for the Tigers.

East Palestine 3,

Lisbon 1

EAST PALESTINE–The East Palestine volleyball team defeated Lisbon 25-19, 25-15, 24-26, 25-20 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The Bulldogs are now 9-5 overall and 7-2 in the EOAC. Lisbon falls to 10-6, 5-4.

For East Palestine, Emily Berger had 13 points, 14 kills, seven digs and five aces; Morgan Cheurco had 14 points, 31 assists, seven digs and five aces.

For the Blue Devils, Maddie Liberati had 18 kills, 32 digs, seven points, seven aces and four blocks; Callie Steed had 10 points, 20 kills and 28 digs; Jaidynn Entrikin had eight points and 33 assists.

East Palestine won the jv match 25-10, 25-23.

The Bulldogs host JFK Monday.

United 3, Chaney 0

HANOVERTON — United’s volleyball team beat Youngstown Chaney 25-8, 25-9, 25-14 on Thursday.

Savannah Burton had five points, eight aces and four kills. Kyleigh Daggy added nine aces, seven points, six kills and nine digs.

United is 5-9.

The Eagle reserves won 25-20, 25-11. Olivia Grubb had 10 aces, six assists and eight points. Olivia Short added 10 digs.

Lakeview 3,

South Range 1

GREENFORD — Lakeview cooled off South Range 25-16, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22 on Thursday in Northeast 8 play.

Anna Primavera had 14 kills and nine digs for the Raiders. Abby George added nine kills and five digs, while Emily Irons had 31 assists.

South Range is 8-3.
