United teams roll

LEETONIA — Zach Jewell had four goals and three assists, while Tyler Blake score and assisted on three goals as United tripped up Leetonia 14-0 on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Kade Blake added two goals. Garrett Coffee, Jaret Hahn, Nevin Jones, Brayden Mastronarde and Luke Medure had a goal each. Grant Irwin, Coffee, Jaret Hahn and Medure had an assists each.

United (6-0, 4-0) will host Ursuline Wednesday.

Sandy Valley 0

HANOVERTON — United’s girls soccer team ripped Sandy Valley 12-0 on Monday.

For the Eagles, Hannah Minor and Samantha Wolfe had hat tricks. Abigail Hruby and Celeste Hofmeister had two goals each. Morgan Briceland and Brooke Courtney had a goal.

Briceland had three assists, Wolfe three assists, Katlyn Phillips two assists and Hruby and Kaitlyn Schreffler one assist each.

United is at Badger Saturday.

Columbiana 8, Wellsville 0

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s boys soccer team thwarted Wellsville 8-0 on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play. Collin Schick had four goals and an assist for the Clippers, while Gabe Heinrich had three goals and an assist. Drake Daughtery had a goal and an assist. Travis Cross had two assists, while Ashton Kakavros and James Porter had an assist.

Nate Burnell had six saves.

Warren JFK 9, Columbiana 3

WARREN — Warren JFK knocked off Columbiana 9-3 on Monday in girls soccer action.

Columbiana’s Logan Stryffeler had two goals, while Adrianna Goerhing added another for the Clippers. Lily Marsco had an assist.

Austumn Chuey had seven saves for the Clippers.

Columbiana is 1-5 and is at East Liverpool on Wednesday.

Springfield 3,

Salem 1

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Gracie Venturella scored off two penalty kicks and Kylee Kosek added another goal as Springfield beat Salem, 3-1, in girls soccer actoin Monday.

The Tigers, who got five saves from Rebecca Catlos, are 5-0 on the season.

Abbie Davidson scored the Quaker goal on an assist from Libby Ripley.

Sam Moore had nine saves in goal for Salem.

Salem tied Springfield 1-1 in the jayvee game. Abbie Davidson scored in that one as well.

Salem is at Minerva on Wednesday night.

West Branch 2, Mooney 1

BELOIT — Jillian Pidgeon and Haley Jones scored in the first half as West Branch downed Youngstown Mooney, 2-1, Monday.

Makenna Lins had an assist.

The Warriors improve to 4-2 and will host Ursuline on Thursday.
