Biery, Egli light up the scoreboard

BELOIT — Lexi Biery and Emma Egli each scored two goals in leading West Branch past Hubbard, 7-0, in girls soccer action Saturday.

Jillian Pidgeon, Alexis Gregory and Danielle Koneval added goals. Getting assists were Egli, Lacey Phillis and Makenna Lins.

Taylor Slagle and Kamryn Briceland combined in goal for the shutout.

The Warriors (10-2-1) will travel to Austintown Fitch at 7 p.m. Monday.

Crestview 2, Ursuline 1

YOUNGSTOWN — Freshman Nick Novak found sophomore Mitch Auer for the game-winning goal with six minutes remaining to give Crestview a 2-1 win over Youngstown Ursuline on Saturday.

The Rebels improve to 13-1 on the season.

Novak opened the scoring about 25 minutes into the first half off a pass from senior Dale McGoogan.

Ursuline scored eight minutes into the second half on a goal by Mario Ruano off a corner kick to even the match at 1-1.

Crestview will host Rootstown at 6 p.m. Tuesday.


McDonald 3, Leetonia 1

LEETONIA — McDonald rallied past Leetonia for a 19-25, 25-7, 25-19, 25-23 volleyball victory Saturday.

Molly Howard had 10 points, two aces and seven kills for the Blue Devils. Maria Rasile totaled six aces and 12 assists, Sophia Costantiono 13 kills and 10 assists and Emily Floyd three aces.

For the Bears, Cailyn Glosser had nine points and four aces, Taran Ferry five points, three aces, 13 digs and five kills, Megan Rosko three aces and 16 digs and Miya Dolan three points and 18 digs.

Leetonia won the junior varsity match, 25-21, 25-23.

Leaders for the Bears were McKendra Cole with 15 points, six aces and four kills, Landry Baker iwth 12 points, two aces and 13 digs and Allison Francosky with 10 points, six aces and three kills. McDonald got 16 points from Emily Floyd and nine points from Emily Pratt.
