Quakers roll into sectional final

BELOIT–The Salem volleyball team got its postseason run off to a good start by rolling over 14th-seeded Youngstown Chaney 25-3, 25-11, 25-5 in a Div. II sectional opener Wednesday at West Branch High School.

The third-seeded Quakers improve to 18-5 overall and advance to take on sixth-seeded Cardinal Mooney in a sectional final at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at West Branch High School.

Lisbon 3, McDonald 0

COLUMBIANA–The sixth-seeded Lisbon volleyball team breezed past 11th-seeded McDonald 25-11, 25-23, 25-20 in a Div. IV sectional opener Wednesday at Columbiana High School.

The Blue Devils take on third-seeded Heartland Christian in a sectional final at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

For Lisbon, Tabby Ketchum had 11 assists and 10 points; Maddie Liberati had 13 kills and 20 digs and Brooke VanGiesen had 11 points, six kills and four aces.

East Canton 0

COLUMBIANA–The third-seeded Heartland Christian volleyball team overpowered 14th-seeded East Canton 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 in a Div. IV sectional opener Wednesday at Columbiana High School.

The Lions advance to take on sixth-seeded Lisbon in a sectional final at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Dara Arthurs led Heartland with 12 points, 15 digs, six aces and nine kills. Makayla Osborn added 13 points, seven aces, 15 kills and nine digs. Lydia Wilson handed out 30 assists to go with 11 digs and nine points. Emma Hall had seven points and seven kills.
