Salem rallies past Mooney
BELOIT — Third-seeded Salem used some well-placed shots to rally past sixth-seeded Youngstown Mooney for a 22-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-12 Division II sectional championship win Saturday.
The Quakers used a well-balanced attack as Jaden Hamilton had 16 kills and three blocks, Elly Exline 14 kills, five assists and 13 digs and Hayden Carner 13 kills and three blocks. Taylor Troy contributed 16 digs, two kills and two aces and Kaylee Freeman totaled 39 assists.
Salem (19-5) will play second-seeded Canfield at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at West Branch High School.
South Range 3, Columbiana 1
SALEM –Third-seeded South Range held off sixth-seeded Columbiana, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-20, in a Division III sectional final Saturday at Cabas Gymnasium.
Maria Primavera paced the Raiders with 11 kills and eight digs. Izzy Lamparty collected 10 kills and nine blocks, Anna Primavera 10 kills, three aces and seven digs, Emily Irons 33 assists and 16 digs and Reagan Irons 35 digs.
For Columbiana, Tori Long had nine kills, 21 digs and five points; Maci Linhart 32 digs, four points and two kills; Grace Witmer six kills, seven assists, five points and eight digs; Maddie Witherow 15 points, two aces and three kills; and Marissa Mkosky six points, 10 assists and eight digs.
South Range will play seventh-seeded Lake Center at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Lisbon 3, Heartland 1
COLUMBIANA — Sixth-seeded Lisbon put away third-seeded Heartland Christian, 12-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-22 in a Columbiana Division IV sectional final Saturday.
Maddie Liberati totaled 22 kills and 15 digs, Callie Steed 18 points and 14 kills an Justyce Vrable 15 points to highlight the Blue Devils.
For the Lions, Dara Arthurs hd nine points, four aces, 12 kills, 26 digs and two block assists; Jeanna Morgan 19 digs; Emma Hall 10 points, five aces, 11 kills and two block assists; Makayla Osborn 18 points, eight aces, 14 kills and 25 digs; and Lydia Wilson six points, 41 assists and nine digs.
Lisbon will play second-seeded Wellsville at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
