Salem takes United Invite

HANOVERTON–The Salem wrestling team took home the title at Saturday’s second United Invitational.

The Quakers took the team title for the second straight year after totaling 207 points. Canfield’s B team finished second with 195, while United was third at 181.. Carrollton (179) and Toronto (135) rounded out the top five, while Malvern was sixth with 127 points and Western Reserve seventh with 87. Other local teams that competed were Lisbon, which was 12th with 27 points and East Palestine, which was 14th with nine points.

For the Quakers, Caiden Hart (160 pounds) won his second straight United Invitational title with a pin of Western Reserve’s Nick Dagnan. Salem’s Jacob Frost (126) also won his second straight title with a pin over United’s Jensen Baker.

Also for the Quakers, Micah Chamberlain took the 120 pound title.

United got first-place finishes from Christian McCon (170), Tyler Lippiatt (182), Deric Ellyson (195) and Bodey Kiko (220), who all won with pins.
