Warriors lock down Dukes

ALLIANCE–The West Branch girls basketball team used stifling fourth quarter defense to pull away from Marlington 47-24 Wednesday.

The Warriors are now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. Marlington falls to 4-1, 2-1.

West Branch led 31-23 going into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Dukes 16-2 the rest of the way.

On offense, the Warriors used a balanced attack with Jillian Pidgeon, Hannah Ridgeway, Anna Lippiatt and Jessica Bock each scoring seven points. Ridgeway added seven rebounds.

Crestview 46

COLUMBIANA — Liberty looks to be one of the better teams in the Mahoning Valley and on Wednesday the Leopards opened the All-American Conference slate with a 64-46 win over Crestview in girls basketball action.

Crestview is 3-1 and 0-1 in the AAC, while Liberty is 4-1 and 1-0.

Krista Perry led the way with 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Tanner Hoffer had 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Crestview won the two-quarter jayvee game, 28-0. Lainey Ericson had 11 points for the Rebels.

Crestview is at Champion on Saturday afternoon.

COLUMBIANA–Heartland Christian was defeated by Warren JFK 63-43 in girls basketball action Wednesday.

Sydney Ogden led Heartland with 14 points. Madi Matthews added 10 points. JFK got a huge 34-point game from Caitlyn Condoleon.

MINERVA — Minerva’s girls basketball picked up another win in the Eastern Buckeye Conference by topping Carrollton 53-37 on Wednesday.

Minerva is 4-2 and 2-0 in the league.

Maddie Foutz had 15 for the winners, while Elyssa Imler added 13 points. Coletta Miller added nine rebounds.
