Aviators soar over Quakers in Eastern Buckeye tilt

ALLIANCE — Alliance hit four three-pointers to ignite a 26-10 first-quarter run that put the Aviators on their way to a 75-47 win over Salem on Friday.

Four Aviators scored in double figures, led by Trevor Strata with 22 points, Brandon Alexander 12, Jeff Talbert and Gage Ford 10.

Alliance improves to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference, while Salem falls to 3-11 and 2-6 EBC.

Salem’s leaders were Hunter Griffith with 14 points and Drew Weir with 13.

Alliance also won the junior varsity game, 49-41. Logan Blissenbach scored 18 points for Salem.

The Quakers will host East Liverpool on Tuesday.

CORTLAND — Chris Brooks scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lift South Range over Lakeview, 65-48, in Northeast 8 play Friday.

The Raiders trailed 25-24 at halftime and outscored the Bulldogs 41-21 in the second half.

Dante Digaetano added 12 points and Kris Scandy 11.

For Lakeview, Brendon Kilpatrick scored 13 points and Nate Fox and Ryan Carnahan each had 12.

South Range will play at Poland on Tuesday.

MINERVA — Five Minerva players scored five points as the Lions downed Canton South, 40-38, in Eastern Buckeye Conference play Friday.

Noah Sallade led the way with 13 points. Koby Kinsey and Mitchell Greer each added eight.

Minerva improves to 6-10 overall and 2-6 in the EBC, while Canton South drosp to 5-10 and 2-6 in league play.

Canton South won the junior varsity game, 37-33.

Minerva will play at Carrollton on Tuesday.

SEBRING — Sebring scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from Western Reserve for a 58-39 win in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play Friday night.

Gabe Lanzer topped the Trojans with 15 points. Jake Hunter totaled 14 points and seven assists and Carson Rouse had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Noah Klasic paced the Blue Devils with 12 points.

Sebring improves to 11-4 overall and 5-4 in the MVAC. Western Reserve falls to 6-14 and 2-7 MVAC.

Sebring will begin a four-game road trip at Ravenna Southeast tonight. Western Reserve goes to Mineral Ridge on Tuesday.
