MINERVA–The 10th-ranked West Branch girls basketball team stayed in control of the Eastern Buckeye Conference with a 51-44 victory over Minerva Saturday.

West Branch improves to 14-2 overall and 8-0 in the EBC. Minerva falls to 8-9, 4-5.

Peyton Alazaus led the Warriors with 19 points, while Hannah Ridgway supplied 14 points and seven rebounds. Carly Scarpitti and Anna Lippiatt each had seven points.

Elyssa Imler led Minerva with 15 points. Colettea Miller added 12 points and six rebounds.

The Warriors built up a 29-12 halftime lead and were able to hold on in the second half.

Minerva won the jv game 35-32.

West Branch continues its EBC schedule Wednesday at home against Canton South.

Marlington 48, Salem 42

ALLIANCE–The Salem girls basketball team was dealt another frusterating close loss Saturday, as the Quakers fell to Marlington 48-42 in Eastern Buckeye Conference action.

Salem drops to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the EBC. The Quakers have lost six games by single digits. Marlington improves to 12-4, 7-2.

Casey Johnson and Abbie Davidson led the Quakers with 11 points apiece. Jaden Hamilton added nine points.

Salem routed Marlington in the jv game 37-17. Alanee Davidson led the Quakers with eight points. Alivia Davidson added seven points.

The Quakers host Perry Monday.

Crestview 59, Brookfield 23

BROOKFIELD–The Crestview girls basketball team stifled Brookfield 59-23 in All-American Conference action Saturday.

The Rebels improve to 11-5 overall and 4-4 in the AAC Blue Tier.

Krista Perry had a strong all-around effort for Crestview with 20 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Addison Bandy added 12 points and four assists, while Tanner Hoffer had 11 points and five rebounds.

Also for Crestview, Emily Hill chipped in nine points, Mara Halas had seven points and Ashton Hughes had three steals.

The Rebels held Brookfield scoreless in the second quarter and their way to a 26-4 halftime lead.

Crestview won the jv game 42-14. Laney Ericson led the way with 10 points.

The Rebels host East Liverpool today.

SEBRING–The Leetonia girls basketball team overcame Sebring 51-42 on Saturday.

Taran Ferry had a strong all-around game for the Bears (9-7) with 10 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and seven steals.

Ella Gregorino contributed a game-high 14 points. Allison Francosky added 13 points.

Emma Whaley led Sebring with 10 points.

Leetonia is at Heartland Christian Monday.
