Indians, Clippers still on top

LISBON — Southern kept its share of the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference lead by topping Lisbon 52-44 on Friday.

Southern is 13-1 and 8-1 in the EOAC. Lisbon fell to 6-9, 5-3.

Cam Grodhaus had 22 points, seven rebounds, four steals and five assists to power the Indians. Jayce Sloan added nine points, seven rebounds and five steals.

Ryan McCullough had 16 points, five assists and seven rebounds for the Devils. Blayne Brownfield added nine rebounds.

Southern won the jayvee game, 49-19. Brady Ketchum had nine points for the Indians, while Hunter Sturgeon had eight points for the Devils.

Southern hosts state-ranked Malvern today. Lisbon is at Wellsville on Tuesday.

Columbiana 72, United 42

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana is still in the hunt for the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference crown after downing United 72-42 on Friday.

Columbiana moved to 11-4 and 7-1 in the league. The Clippers are tied with Southern for the league lead.

Zach Clark had 16 points for the Clippers, while Sean Whitehead scored 10 points.

Ryan Fahs had six rebounds.

United was led by Keaton Baker’s 16 points. Nate Miller had 12 rebounds.

Columbiana won the jayvee game, 67-21. Nick Million had 18 points for the winners.

Columbiana hosts Leetonia on Tuesday.

Wellsville 87, East Palestine 71

EAST PALESTINE — There were lots of big numbers put up on the board in Wellsville’s 87-71 Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference win over East Palestine on Friday.

Wellsville got 29 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds from Darien Suggs and 27 points, eight rebounds and four steals from Luke Green. Jaxson Brewer added 14 points and five rebounds.

The Tigers are 7-6 overall and 6-4 in the EOAC.

Jonathan Bertovich was sharp for the Bulldogs with 30 points, while teammate Tyler Bistarkey had 25 points.

East Palestine falls to 3-10, 3-6.

Wellsville also won the junior varsity game, 37-27.

Wellsville is right back at it tonight with a road game at Beaver Local. East Palestine will play at United on Tuesday.
