Quakers win a close one

MINERVA–The Salem girls basketball team edged Minerva 44-41 in Eastern Buckeye Conference girls basketball action on Wednesday.

The Quakers improve to 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the EBC. The Lions fall to 7-8, 4-4.

Kyla Jamison led the Quakers with 15 points and five rebounds.. Jaden Hamilton added 12 points. Casey Johnson had 11 points and five rebounds.

Maddie Foutz led Minerva with 12 points.

Salem won the jv game 32-21.

West Branch 73, Ursuline 23

YOUNGSTOWN–The West Branch girls basketball team blasted Ursuline 73-23 on Wednesday.

The Warriors improve to 11-2 overall. Ursuline falls to 5-10.

Hannah Ridgway led West Branch with 18 points. Jillian Pidgeon added 14 points. Peyton Alazaus had nine points.

West Branch won the jv game 51-26.

The Warriors host Marlington on Saturday.

Sebring 86, Akron Elms 46

AKRON — Sebring scored 28 points in the first quarter and topped Akron Our of the Lady of Elms, 86-46, Wednesday.

Devyn Reggi scored 23 points and Emma Whaley 22 to lead the Trojans.

Everyone got into the ace as Aebi D’Ostroph added 12 points, Bella Meir 11 points and Hannah Coss and Delaney Reggi each had eight points.

Sebring will host state-ranked Western Reserve today.

Crestview 41, LaBrae 34

LEAVITTSBURG — Mara Halas had 12 points, three assists and three steals to guide Crestview to a 41-34 win over LaBrae on Wednesday.

The Rebels improve to 10-4 overall and 3-3 in the All-American Conference.

Crestview led 24-12 at halftime and 33-22 after three quarters. LaBrae cut the margin to one point in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels held on for the victory.

Shianna Mathes contributed 10 points to the winning effort. Krista Perry had nine points and seven rebounds, Addison Bandy six steals and four assists, Tanner Hoffer five rebounds and two steals and Ashton Hughes grabbed five rebounds.

Crestview also won the two-quarter junior varsity game, 16-12, as Emily Hill scored six points.

The Rebels will play at Liberty at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
