Salem boys can’t catch South Range

GREENFORD –South Range scored the first nine points and rolled past Salem, 52-38, Satuday night.

Salem had turnovers of its first five possessions and South Range had four players score — highlighted by Jake Gehring’s conventional three-point play — as the Raiders jumped out to an early 9-0 lead.

The Quakers took their first shot 3 1/2 minutes into the game and didn’t get closer than five points the rest of the way.

South Range improves to 7-3, while Salem falls to 1-9.

Chris Brooks sparked the Raiders with 15 points. Dante Digaetano added eight points.

The Raiders led 28-15 at halftime and 45-26 after three quarters.

Hunter Griffith led the Quakers with 15 points.

South Range also won the junior varsity game, 56-47. Brock Young scored 17 points and Logan Blissenbach 10 for the Quakers.

Both teams play Tuesday as South Range hosts Girard and Salem welcomes West Branch.
