Beaver Local takes down Lisbon

CALCUTTA — Jenna Riccardo got the game ball, but she shared the headlines with her teammates.

Riccardo grabbed her 1,000th career rebound and the Beaver Local girls totaled 15 three-pointers during a 77-41 win over Lisbon on Monday night.

Riccardo got her milestone rebound with 6:50 to play in the second quarter and has 1,004 in her career. She went over 1,000 career points as a junior last year.

The Beavers had a well-balanced effort as Madison Cline had four three-pointers for 18 points and eight rebounds. Riccardo totaled 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, while Brooke Briggs had five three-pointers for 15 points and Riley Britt contributed eight points and five assists.

Four different Beavers hit three-pointers to give Beaver Loal a 14-5 lead in the first quarter. They added five more three-pointers in the second quarter as they widened the lead to 30-9 with 4:20 left in the second quarter.

Maddie Liberati toppe Lisbon with 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals and Bryanna VanGiesen had nine points and three steals.

Point guard Izzy Perez did not play in the first half and had 10 points, five assists and four rebounds in the second half.

Beaver Local wraps up the regular season at 12-10, while Lisbon ends at 10-11.

Game notes

¯ Chelsea Bowker, a 2009 graduate of Crestview High School, is believed to be the last Columbiana player to total 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. The Rebels were 73-20 in her four seasons.

¯Both teams open sectional play on Feb. 19 — Lisbon hosts Lordstown and Beaver Local travels to St. Clairsville.

LIBERTY — Crestview had its chances Monday.

Leading Liberty late in the game, the Leopards rallied past the Rebels, 57-53, in All-American Conference Blue Tier action.

The Leopards — the top seed in the Struthers Division III sectional-district tournament — finishes the regular season at 18-4 overall and 10-2 in the AAC, both losses to Champion. Liberty will open tournament play Feb. 22 by hosting the Springfield-United winner.

Crestview is 14-7 and 6-6 in league play heading into Wednesday’s regular-season finale at home against McDonald.

Liberty senior guard Delia Watson scored a team-high 19 points, including the 1,000th of her career. Shar’Da Williamson added 16 points and high-regarded freshmen Demi Watson and Cianna Smith added 13 and eight points, respectively.

Tanner Hoffer led the Rebels with a game-high 23 points and 17 rebounds. Krista Perry collected 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. Payton Huff added five rebounds and three assists and Addison Bandy had three assists.

Crestview won the two-quarter junior varsity game, 28-7, as McKenna Schultz scored nine points.

WARREN — Warren JFK outscored Heartland Christian in every quarter on the way to a 59-40 win Monday.

Caetlyn Condoleon scored 21 points and Faith Hollobaugh 18 to lead JFK.

For Heartland, Madi Matthews totaled 19 points and Sydney Ogden contributed 13 points.

Heartland will host Brookfield on Thursday.
