Louisville reaches state in D2

BEACHWOOD — Beaver Local’s wrestling team didn’t have the answer to solve the powerful Louisville juggernaut on Saturday at the Div. II, Region 12 dual team tournament.

The Leopards, who had beaten the Beavers in a regular season dual, did it again with a 54-21 victory in the regional final to block the Beavers from returning to the state dual tournament set for Sunday at St. John Arena in Columbus.

Beaver Local, the second seed, bested Norton 59-27 and Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 34-28 to reach the final against the top-seeded Leopards.

The other seven teams that will participate in the Div. II state tournament are Miami Trace, St. Paris Graham, Ross, West Holmes, Aurora, Perkins and Bellevue.

West Branch was scheduled to participate in the Region 11 tournament but was not involved on Saturday at Perry High School.
