Leone grabs special mention

COLUMBUS — East Liverpool’s Tresean Jackson and Brennan O’Hara led the Potters through all the wars.

Both senior standouts were named to the 2019-20 All-Ohio Division II high school boys basketball team released Tuesday by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.

Jackson gained second-team honors after a record-setting career, while O’Hara received honorable mention.

They guided the Potters to an 18-6 record and a second straight trip to the district championship game.

Jackson led the Potters by averaging 21.5 points and 4.5 assists a game. He set East Liverpool records for most career points (1,387) and three-pointers (217).

He has the highest All-Ohio showing by a Potter since Isaac Davidson earned second-team honors in 2016.

O’Hara averaged 11.7 points and 4.2 rebounds a game while being a tough defender.

West Branch senior Reese Leone received special mention and Beaver Local senior Luke Chetock got honorable mention.

Leone led the Warriors to an 18-5 record and the Eastern Buckeye Conference title. He averaged a team-high 16.3 points, five assists and three rebounds a game and ended as the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer with 1,160 career points.

Chetock guided his team to a 13-10 season. He averaged a team-high 15.1 points, 4.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game.
