Local golfer ties for 34th at tournament

MEDINA- Local golfer Jared Wilson of Columbiana finished tied for 34th in the Pyramid Treating/Minute Men Ohio Open Championship completed Wednesday.

Wilson, a two-time Division III state champion who is now on the Kent State golf team, shot a 2-over 69 at Weymouth Club in the final round Wednesday to finish 1-over for the three-day, 237-golfer tournament.

Alex Weiss of Pickerington won the tournament with a score of 13-under, one shot ahead of Bob Sowards of Dublin and Ryan Yip of Kent.

Heartland Christian hires basketball coach

COLUMBIANA-Heartland Christian School hired Justin Rahim as junior varsity/varsity girls basketball coach. A resident of Austintown, he has coached junior varsity basketball at Ursuline High School since 2018. He also coached AAU for Penn Ohio Blue Storm out of Hermitage, Pa. as the ninth grade boys coach and was the assistant girls basketball coach at Youngstown East High School from 2014 to 2016.
