Rhodes powers Quakers

SALEM — The Salem boys golf team captured its first win of the season by downing Springfield Local, 193-236, Tuesday at Salem Hills.

Salem’s Lane Rhodes topped all golfers with a 41. Also for the Quakers, Cyle Burt had a 46, Nick Colbert 50, Cole Ford 56 and Sam Bricker 56.

For Springfield, Justin McLemore had a 45, Justin Brungard 61, Donavan Mitique 65 and Kevin Flaherty 65.

Leopards rule

PARIS, Ohio — The Louisville girls posted an 81-stroke victory in the Tri-County Preseason Tournament Tuesday at Pleasant View Golf Club.

The Leopards had an 18-hole score of 411, followed by Carrollton with 392.

Louisville senior Katic Bice was the medalist with a 76, one stroke better than teammate Erin Strouse and two ahead of Madison Gruber.

Salem finished eighth out of 13 teams with 419, while West Branch was 11th with 440.

For Salem, Kelly Hutton had a 92, Paige Bailey 105, Lexi Miller 106 and Carlee Best 116.

For West Branch, Shaylee Muckleroy had a 103, Lachlan Cameron 107, Dana Ligget 114 and Sidney Milliken 116.

Beaver Local quad

BERGHOLZ — The Beaver Local boys golf team upped its record to 6-0 by topping a quadrangular match Tuesday at Spring Hills.

The Beavers shot a 157, followed by Toronto with a 192, River 223 and Edison 257.

Beaver Local’s Luke Eyster was the medalist with a par 36. Logan Ours added a 38, Landon Cameron 41 and Sky Pappas 43.

Leaders for the other teams were River’s Jagger Knight with a 44, Toronto’s Brennan Sephellata 46 and Edison’s Tristin Arnold with a 53.

Beaver Local will play in the Brookfield Invitational today at Yankee Run.

Champion 195, Crestview 202

NORTH BLOOMFIELD — Champion handed Crestview a 195-202 loss Tuesday at Bristolwood Golf Course.

Leaders for Champion were Ken Williams with a 41, Jake Witherow 43, Adam Fisher 50 and Buddy Wilson 61.

For Crestview, Emily Hill had a 45, A.J. Robb 52, Braden Urmson 52 and Matt Wollet 53.

The Rebels will host United today at Beaver Creek Meadows.

South Range 170,

Girard 205

BOARDMAN –The South Range golf team opened its season Tuesday with a 170-205 win over Girard at Mill Creek North.

Gavin Batdorff led the Raiders with a 3-over 38, followed by Kaiden Sykes 40, Gavin Pahanish 46 and Nate Brown 46.

For Girard (0-3), Jake Dohy had a 45, Dom Malito 50, Matt Shelley 54, Drew Delgarbino 56 and Aaron Leonhardt 56.

Warren JFK 201, Heartland 225

WARREN — Heartland Christian dropped a 201-225 decision to Warren JFK on Tuesday at Flying ‘B’.

Bryce Vanhorn led the Eagles with a 49.

For Heartland, Hayden Stewart had a 51, Landon Linhart 52, Zach Labon 59, Zach McGown 63.

Heartland hosts East Liverpool Christian on Thursday.

United vs. Wellsville

EAST LIVERPOOL — United and Wellsville hooked up for a dual match on Tuesday at Cedar Hills.

Wellsville had only two players so it was not a full team competition.

For the Eagles, who shot 184 as a team, Barker Berdine and Nevin Hahlen had 43s, Mati Zines 48 and Bryce McKenzie 50.

Luke Green had a 48 and Casey LeMasters had a 57 for the Tigers.

Columbiana 165, East Palestine 179

EAST PALESTINE — Columbiana defeated East Palestine 165-179 on Tuesday at East Palestine Country Club.

Columbiana’s Tyler Anderson was the medalist with a 1-under 35. Columbiana also counted scores from Anthony Hall (42), Ian Less (43), and Riley McElwain (45).

Scorers for the Bulldogs were Ricky Bell (40), Taylor Bycroft (44), Payton Sherry (47) and Morgan Rutledge (48).
