A split for Salem golfers

SALEM — Charlie Mort shot a 41 as Marlington topped Salem, 180-205, in boys golf action at Salem Hills on Tuesday.

Salem drops to 2-13 overall and 0-11 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.

For the Quakers, Cole Ford had a 50, Lane Rhodes 51, Carson Rhodes 51 and Nick Colbert 53.

Salem plays Carrollton at 4 pl.m. today at Carroll Meadows.

Salem 215, Canton South 232

SALEM– Salem girls golf defeated Canton South 215-232 at Salem Hills on Tuesday.

For the Quakers, Kelly Hutton led the way with a 44, Lexi Miller 51, Emma Ulrich 56 and Emma Brown 64.

West Branch 165, Minerva 184

SALEM — Aiden Wiesemann shot a 36 in leading the West Branch boys golf team past Minerva, 165-184, at Flying B Tuesday.

Landon Wilson followed with a 42, Christian Starcher 43 and Reed Williams 44.

The Warriors improve to 6-4 overall and 6-4 in Eastern Buckeye Conference play. The Lions move to 9-8 and 5-7 EBC.

Lucas Kimble and Andrew Gillis both had 43s for Minerva.

Columbiana 160, Mooney 194

COLUMBIANA– Columbiana boys golf defeated Cardinal Mooney 160-194 on Tuesday at Valley golf course to move to 14-1 on the season.

Tyler Andersen shot a 37 to lead the way for the Clippers. Riley McElwain 41, Anthony Hall 41, Bayden Pipoly 41.

United 185, Lisbon 209

SALEM– United defeated Lisbon, 185-209, at Buck Run on Tuesday.

For United, Mati Zines had a 47, Nevin Hahlen 46, Bryce McKenzie 46, Mikey Bardo 46

For Lisbon, Joey DiLudovico had a 49, Brayden Flory 51, Anna Marshalek 60, Kyle Rohm 49

Crestview 194, Springfield 216

COITSVILLE — The Crestview golf team defeated Springfield, 194-216, at Bedford Trails on Tuesday.

Leaders for the Rebels were A.J. Robb with a 46, Emily Hill 47 , Braden Urmson 49 and Jon Beveridge 52.

For Springfield, Justin McLemore with a 45, Sam Swansiger 54, Justin Brungard 58 and Donavan Mitigue 59.

The teams will compete in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference tournament at Salem Hills today.

Leetonia 254, Lowellville 255

COITSVILLE — The Leetonia girls captured a one-shot victory over Lowellville, 254-255, at Bedford Trails on Tuesday.

Lani Ogle led the Bears with a 60, followed by Josie Glosser 61, Billie Sue Gibson 63 and Katie Soupal 70.

Sophia Yon topped the Rockets with a 59.

Columbiana 184, East Palestine 196

NEGLEY — Columbiana topped East Palestine, 184-196, in girls golf action Tuesday at East Palestine Country Club.

Jessica Himes led the Clippers with a 43, followed by Isabella Travis 44, Morgan Dunlap 45 and EmmaRae Foy 52.

For the Bulldogs, Taylor Bycroft had a 43, Payton Sherry 45, Morgan Rutledge 51 and Addy Bycroft 57.
