East Liverpool drops South Range
EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool volleyball was able to take down South Range on Wednesday 25-23, 25-20, 25-22.
For East Liverpool, Naudia Williams had 20 attacks and five kills, Addisyn Galeoti 26 digs and Dalani Ice had four attacks and three blocks.
For South Range, Madie Mook had two aces, Izzy Lamparty seven kills, Reagan Irons 15 digs and Sarah Kuhns seven assists.
In jayvee action, the Potters won 25-18, 27-25. the Potters, Olivia Flores had 16 digs and Erica Ward had eight attacks, four kills and five points.
East Liverpool is next in action at home against West Branch on Saturday.
Heartland 3, East Palestine 1
COLUMBIANA — Makayla Osborn totaled 28 kills and Emma Hall had 18 kills in leading Heartland Christian past East Palestine, 24-26, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18, Wednesday.
The Lions improve to 6-5 heading into today’s home match against Lordstown. The Bulldogs are 7-5 overall and will play at Lisbon today.
Lydia Wilson contributed 51 assists, nine points, two aces and three blocks to the winning effort. Madison Matthews 12 points, five aces, four kills, four blocks and six digs; Osborn seven points, four aces and seven digs; and Hall nine points, three blocks and 19 digs.
For East Palestine, McKenna Griffith had 11 points, Emily Berger had 10 kills and one blocks, Mia Lee nine kills and one block and Morgan Cheurco 18 assists.
East Palestine won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 26-24.
For the Lions, Jiana Shar had eights points and nine digs; Bella Drokin four points, two aces, four kills, four assists and eight digs; and Elise Wintersteller four kills and six digs.
Beaver 3, Steubenville 1
STEUBENVILLE — State-ranked Beaver Local fought back for a 22-25, 25-20, 25-12, 25-18 win over Steubenville on Wednesday.
“I think tonight’s game was a prime example of how much grit we have as a team,” Beaver Local defensive player Kodi Kinsey said. “We played with a lot of excitement and put our hearts on the floor. Together we really dug deep to pull out the win.”
Kinsey collected seven aces and 15 digs.
Brooke Talbot totaled 16 kills, 14 assists and 18 digs; Grace Hill 15 kills and two blocks Elizabeth Kolkowski eight kills, five blocks and eight digs; Leah Riccardo six kills and nine digs; Karlee Furman three aces, three kills, 26 assists and eight digs; Erin O’Hara three kills and three assists; Cierrah Thurik three aces and 17 digs and Bailee Bowersock had six digs.
“Steubenville came out of the gate strong tonight and we had several moments in the first set playing catch up,” Beaver Local coach Sarah Lowe said. “I have to credit our team in that they did not let up and played through the challenging moments. After the first set we found our momentum and rallied back. As the season progresses we have to keep focusing on the little things and strong starts.
The Beavers will host to Oak Glen today.
Beaver Local also won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-6.
Peyton Roberts had nine kills and two blocks for the Beavers, followed by Lexi Schrieber with seven kills, seven assists and five digs; Briar Wolski six kills and six digs ;Hannah Kelly 18 dig; and Madison Lowe two aces and 10 digs.
The Beaver Local freshman also won, 25-12, 25-19.
For the Beavers, Riley Cochran had six aces and five digs; Addison Hurst four aces, five kills and one block. Hudson Cochran three aces, three kills, seven assists and two digs; and Aubrey Reed five digs.
