Lions handle Tigers

COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian handed Wellsville its second loss of the season, 25-18, 15-25, 25-18, 25-22, Saturday.

The Lions improve to 4-5, while the Tigers drop to 9-2. It is the second match in a row the Lions beat the Tigers dating back to last season.

Emma Hall totaled 22 points, 11 aces, 12 kills, two blocks and 21 digs and Makayla Osborn had 17 kills, two blocks and 15 digs to guide Heartland. Lydia Wilson totaled 42 assists, four kills, two blocks and 12 digs.

For the Tigers, Emily McNicol had six aces, eight kill and 16 assists, Emma Smith nine kills and two blocks, Greta Cartwright 10 assists, and Meaghan Nixon and Alana Amato each made eight kills.

Wellsville won the junior varsity match, 25-14, 25-17. Carys Douglas had four aces and four killes and Broke Hackney four kills and one block for Wellsville. For Heartland, Jiana Shar had four points and two digs, Lexi Wright four points and four kills and Amelia Banner three kills.

Heartland will host Lisbon today, while Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference leader Wellsville entertains Valley Christian on Tuesday.

Girard 3, West Branch 2

BELOIT — Girard came out on top against West Branch, 25-21, 25-19, 17-25, 24-26, 16-14, Saturday.

The Warriors drop to 9-3 on the season.

Claire Brunner collected 16 points and two aces and Sydney Mercer 14 points, two aces, 21 kills and 25 digs for West Branch. Riley Tuel had 30 assists, Mikayln Fitts three blocks and Adel Peters 20 digs.

In the junior varsity game, West Branch won 25-14, 20-25, 25-21. Taiva Hagan had eight points and 13 assists, Emily Sprowl seven points and two aces, Skyler Greeneisen 14 kills and Myla Lamp 16 assists to lead the Warriors.

West Branch will host Salem on Tuesday.

Crestview 3, Western Reserve 2

COLUMBIANA — Grace Auer totaled 16 points, four aces, 19 kills, 20 assists and 14 digs in leading Crestview past Western Reserve, 25-19, 11-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10, Saturday.

Lucy Montgomery collected 19 kills, two kills, 22 assists and 19 digs; Kendra Greavers seven points and 16 digs; Molly Emch five points, eight kills and four blocks; and Shelby Rambo five kills and three blocks.

The Rebels improve to 9-2 overall.

Danielle Vuletich had 20 kills, six blocks and two aces for the Blue Devils. Lisa Eichert collected 12 kills and Hannah Diaz three kills and two aces.

Crestview also won the junior varsity match, 25-21, 25-15. For the Rebels, Madison Davis and Ashleigh Hodge each had five kills and one block and Madalyn Black five kills and eight digs.

Crestview will play at Champion on Tuesday.

Beaver 3, Struthers 0

CALCUTTA –The state-ranked Beaver Local volleyball team swept Struthers, 25-9, 25-16, 25-14, Saturday.

Karlee Furman totald 17 points, five aces, six kills and 16 assists and Emma Roberts 13 points, two aces and seven digs. Also for the Beavers, Leah Riccardo had nine points, four aces, three kills and four digs; Cierrah Thurik five points and eight digs; Kodi Kinsey three points and four digs; Elizabeth Kolkowski eight kills and three blocks; Brooke Talbot five kills, eight assists and five digs; Grace Hill four kills and two blocks; Erin O’Hara four kills; andBailey Bowersock five digs.

The Beaver Local junior varsity also won, 25-10, 25-14. The Beavers were led by Madison Lowe with four aces, four kills and digs; Emma Joseph five aces, nine assists and three digs; and Peyton Roberts three aces, three kills, seven assists and seven digs.

The Beaver Local freshman team won 25-11, 25-20. For the Beavers, Riley Cochran had four aces and five digs and Shaylon Mackall two aces, three kills, two assists and four digs.

The Beavers will host Edison on Monday for another tripleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
