United outworks Valley

HANOVERTON — United had to work for its fourth victory of the season.

The Eagles scored twice in the fourth quarter to beat Valley Christian, 21-0, Friday and maintain the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference lead.

United improves to 4-0 and is tied with Leetonia for the league lead. The Eagles travel to Southern next Friday. Southern is a game behind the leaders.

Brutus Ogilvie was 22 of 34 for 248 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also ran for a 2-yard touchdown. Keaton Baker had nine catches for 100 yards and a touchdown. Grant Knight had seven catches for 47 yards. Nathan Miller added four catches for 34 yards. Nick Hardgrove had a 52-yard touchdown reception.

Lincoln Urmson had 12 carries for 71 yards.

The Eagles took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter and that score held up through three quarters.

United scored on the first play of the fourth quarter and added another touchdown.

Valley is 1-3 and will play at Lisbon on Friday.

Leetonia 30, Wellsville 6

WELLSVILLE — Leetonia continued its solid play in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 30-6 win over Wellsville on Friday.

Leetonia is 4-0 and is in a first-place tie with United.

The Bears host winless East Palestine on Friday.

Wellsville is 1-3 and will be at Columbiana on Friday.

Lisbon 39, East Palestine 12

EAST PALESTINE — Lisbon broke a nine-game losing streak by topping East Palestine 39-12 on Friday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Lisbon is 1-3 and won for the first time since it beat East Palestine last season.

Ryan McCullough had a big night for the Devils with five catches for 183 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns.

Tyler Welsh completed five of his eight passes to McCullough.

East Palestine (0-4) got 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns from Nathan Hebron.

Lisbon hosts Valley Christian next Friday. East Palestine is at Leetonia next Friday.
