VOLLEYBALL

Columbiana 3, Sebring 0

COLUMBIANA –Columbiana’s volleyball team spiked Sebring 25-12, 25-13, 25-8 on Saturday in a Div. IV sectional final.

Columbiana, the fifth seed, will host No. 8 seed Newton Falls at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in a district semfinal. The other half of the bracket will feature Ashtabula St. John at top-seed Mineral Ridge.

For the Clippers, Maci Linhart had six kills and 13 digs. Maddie Witherow had 21 points, nine digs and four kills. Cessna Stoy had six assists and 13 points. Grace Witmer added four kills and 10 points with eight digs and seven assists. Tori Long had 18 digs, four points and three kills.

The district final is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday at the better-seeded team’s school.

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney 3, East Palestine 2

EAST PALESTINE–No. 7 seed East Palestine fell to No. 16 seed Mooney in a tight, five set 22-25, 11-25, 25-23, 26-24, 12-15 match on Saturday in a Div. III sectional final.

For East Palestine, Morgan Cheurco had two aces and 22 assists, Emily Berger had ten kills and two blocks, Mia Lee had eight kills and four blocks, Marisa Noel had three aces and Gina Brestelli had 12 points and one ace.

Mooney (9-14) will travel to face No. 4 seed Burton Berkshire on Wednesday.

East Palestine finishes the season 14-7.

Newton Falls 3, Lisbon 0

NEWTON FALLS– No. 20 seed Lisbon lost to No. 8 seed Newton Falls in a Div. IV sectional final on Saturday 25-12, 25-15, 25-19.

For Lisbon, Eliza Baker had five points and13 assists, Justyce Vrable had five kills, Brooke VanGiesen had four kills and six digs and McKenna Dailey had 18 digs.

Lisbon finishes the season 6-15.

Newton Falls (15-6) will travel to No. 5 seed Columbiana on Wednesday in a district semifinal match.

BOYS SOCCER

Howland 12, Salem 0

WARREN–Salem boys soccer was defeated by Howland 12-0 in the Div. II sectional final on Saturday.

Howland scored six goals in the first half to take a commanding lead. Howland is currently ranked second in the Div. II coaches poll.

Salem finshes 8-9-1 on the season.

Howland will advance to host Cortland Lakeview on Tuesday in a district semifinal.

Lakeview 9, West Branch 1

CORTLAND–West Branch boys soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 9-1 loss to Lakeview on Saturday in a Div. II sectional final.

Lakeview will travel to No. 1 seed Howland on Tuesday.

West Branch finishes 8-9-1.

South Range 8, Warren JFK 0

GREENFORD–No. 4 seed South Range boys soccer breezed past No. 20 seed Warren JFK on Saturday afternoon 8-0.

The Raiders will travel to No. 1 seed Crestview on Tuesday for a district semifinal.

Columbiana 7 Mineral Ridge 2

COLUMBIANA–The No. 7 seed Columbiana Clippers moved past No. 11 seed Mineral Ridge 7-2 on Saturday in a Div. III sectional final.

Gabe Heinrich leads the Clippers this season with 36 goals and 15 assists. Collin Schick had 27 goals and 20 assists. Drake Daughtery had 18 goals and 21 assists.

Columbiana will advance to play No. 6 seed Mathews in the district III semifinal on Tuesday at Mathews.

Wickliffe 4, United 3

HANOVERTON–Wickliffe downed United 4-3 on Saturday in a Div. III boys soccer sectional final.

Kade Blake, Luke Medure, and Albert Berenguer each scored for the Eagles with Berenguer and Caleb Rawson providing assists.

Dylan Thompson recorded three saves in goal.

United finishes 13-2-2 on the season.
