West Branch can’t get past Canfield

CANFIELD– The West Branch girls basketball fell to 1-1 on the season after being defeated by Canfield, 48-31, Tuesday night.

Alyssa Dill finished with a game high 16 points and five rebounds for Canfield. Livvie Showalter led the Warriors in rebounding with five.

Leading the way for West Branch was Jillian Pidgeon and Riley Tuel with six points each. West Branch and Canfield each pulled down 25 rebounds in the contest.

Canfield used an 18 point third quarter to pull away from the Warriors.

In jayvee action, Canfield won 42-25.

Malvern 61, Lisbon 43

MALVERN– Malvern is making its way through the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

After defeating United in the season opener, Malvern took down Lisbon, 61-43. Tuesday night to move to 2-0 on the season. The Blue Devils fall to 1-1.

Malvern jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter and Lisbon was never able to close the gap.

For Malvern, sophomore Maddie Powers recorded a game-high 28 points. Only four Malvern players as Alana Spurrier added 12 points, Raine Coblentz 11 and Lanie Bower 10.

For Lisbon, Parker Henthorne led the way with 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Tabby Ketchum added 11 points, five assists and five steals. Madison Haifley had eight points and six rebounds.

In jayvee action, Lisbon won the two-quarter contest, 16-15. Serinity Stacey had 10 points for the Blue Devils.
