Raiders look sharp early

SALEM– The South Range girls basketball team moved to 1-1 on the season after taking down Salem 69-54 in Thursday’s contest.
For South Range, Izzy Lamparty had a big night, recording 27 points and hitting 11-of-14 free throws. Gabby Lamparty added 15 and Lexi Giles had 13.
For Salem (2-1), Kyla Jamison, fresh off her 1,000th point, had 19 points. Abbie Davidson added 13 points and Abby Perry had 10 points.
South Range led 20-13 after the first quarter and opened the second quarter on a 16-6 run to take a 36-19 lead. The Quakers were able to hold the Raiders to only 10 third quarter points, but could not succesfully close the gap.
Salem won the jayvee game 61-19.

HANOVERTON — United’s girls basketball team put on a defensive display in the first half as the Eagles held Wellsville to just two points in a 60-23 victory on Thursday.
United led 29-2 at the break.
For the Eagles, Mickey Shasteen scored nine of her game-high 21 in the first quarter.
Grace Knight and Taylor Cope had seven points each.
Camryn Jackson had five points for the Tigers.
