Quakers win team title

GIRARD — The Salem Middle School wrestling team successfully defended its team title at the Girard Duals on Saturday.

The Quakers went 5-0, defeating Austintown Fitch, Girard, Boardman, Pyamtuning and Liberty.

The highlight was a win over runner-up Fitch. Derek Oesch, Aidan Lucci and Devin Cecena turned in their best performances. Shawn German, Aiden Stecker, Joey Kana, Dom Jezek and David Mayhew also contributed to Salem’s title.

Raiders bow out

GREENFORD — South Range exited the Div. III dual wrestling tournament with a 41-38 loss to Rootstown on Wednesday.

Rootstown advances to the state tournament run by the state coaches’ association on Feb. 6 at Versailles.

Scoring pins for the Raiders were Gavin Pahanish (113), Raymond Cmil (120), Jake Starkey (170) and Michael Lally (285).

Rebels splits matches

SALEM — Crestview’s bowling teams split with McDonald on Wednesday at Hunt Club Lanes.

Crestview’s boys were a 1,976-1,945 winner. A.J. Robb had a 407 series and a 239 high game for the winners, 4-7.

McDonald won the girls match, 1,281-1,186. Jessie Rose had a 220 series and a 116 high game for the Rebels.

Crestview hosts LaBrae on Friday.

United strikes down Canton South

KENSINGTON — The United bowling teams defeated Canton South at Forest Lanes on Wednesday.

The Eagles boys scored a 1,971-1,946 vicotry. Austin Sarchet had a 204 game and Preston Furlong a 188 game to lead the Eagles.

The United girls also won, 1,767-1,649, as Shyanna Coleman had a 189 game and Sara Syppko a 168 game.
