Anderson, Mackall swim to wins
SALEM — West Branch senior Jordan Anderson and sophomore Luke Mackall won events during Friday’s swim meet hosted by Piranha Aquatics at the Salem Community Center.
Anderson took first place in the girls 50-yard freestyle, while Mackall won the boys 50-yard freestyle.
Swimmers from host Salem, West Branch, Columbiana, Crestview, South Range, Springfield, Western Reserve, Youngstown Mooney, Marlington, Hubbard, Girard, Lakeview, Brookfield, Howland and Libertyattended the meet.
The Hubbard boys and Marlington girls took the team titles.
Grisdale sets Poland mark
POLAND — It was a great weekend for the Grisdale family.
Senior Jackie Grisdale became the career scoring leader in leading the state-ranked Poland girls to a 55-25 win over Champion on Saturday.
The night before, her father, Poland boys coach Ken Grisdale notched his 499th win 54-33 decision over Girard.
Jackie Grisdale pushed her career total to 1,309 points, surpassing the mark of 1,303 set by Bella Gajdos in 2018.
Grisdale, who will graduate with 20 varsity letters, totaled 17 points and nine rebounds Saturday. The Bulldogs are 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the Northeast 8.
