Bulldogs get back to work

SALINEVILLE — East Palestine was a little late to the party, but the Bulldog girls got off to a good start in their first game of the season on Monday.

Joclyn Fristik scored 26 points as the Bulldogs romped over Southern 59-36.

East Palestine had its season delayed due to COVID-19 precautions taken by the school district.

Morgan Rutledge had 12 points, while Payton Sherry chipped in 11 for the Bulldogs.

Olivia Kerns had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for Southern. Ashley Shroades added 11 points, 25 rebounds and five steals.

Leetonia 50, Lisbon 40

LISBON — Ella Gregorino scored 24 points, including nine in the pivitol fourth quarter, and Samantha Schneider grabbed 23 rebounds as Leetonia pulled away from Lisbon, 50-40, Monday.

Schneider added nine points and four steals. Megan Rosko had three assists and four steals, while Gregorino and Haleigh Brock added four steals apiece.

Leading 32-30 after three quarters, the Bears (6-3) opened the fourth quarter with a 13-2 run for the victory.

Lisbon fell to 2-6 and 0-3 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Parker Henthorne had 16 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Devils. Morgan Lively added 11 rebounds.

Lisbon won the jayvee game, 19-16, behind Cami Freeland’s 12 points. Alee Keyes had six points for the Bears.

Both teams play Thursday as Leetonia hosts Valley and Lisbon travels to Southern.

Crestview 51

COLUMBIANA — Tour Liberty players scored in double figures in a 65-51 win over Crestview on Monday.

Demi Watson led the way with 22 points, followed by Cianna Smith with 17, Aaliyah Foster 14 and Allyson Jones 10.

Krista Perry topped the Rebels with 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Mara Halas added 12 points and Addison Bandy eight points and three assists. Trinity Miller also had three assists.

The Rebels are 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the MVAC

Crestview won the junior varsity game, 25-15, as Selenena Zuti scored six points.

The Rebles will play at Newton Falls on Wednesday.

YOUNGSTOWN — Columbiana’s girls basketball team defeated Valley Christian 55-52 on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Columbiana hosts United on Thursday.

South Range 67, Hubbard 19

HUBBARD — South Range opened a 54-10 lead through three quarters and streaked by Hubbard, 67-19, in Northeast 8 action Monday.

South Range is 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Izzy Lamparty led the Raiders with a game-high 27 points, all in the first three quarters.

Gabby Lamparty and Lexi Giles each had 10 points.

The Raiders are at Struthers on Thursday.

SEBRING — Waterloo handed Sebring a 64-34 loss in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Tier action Monday.
