Lisbon cages Bears
LISBON — Lisbon will be hard to beat if the Blue Devils shoot like they did early in Tuesday’s 69-43 win over Leetonia.
The Blue Devils connected on eight of their first three-point shots to open up a 32-10 lead only 10:18 into the game.
Ryan McCullough, Adam Spencer and Trevor Siefke opened the second quarter with three-pointers to give Lisbon a commanding 22-point lead.
It was Siefke’s fourth three-pointer and he had six total in a 24-point effort to go along with six rebounds.
Blayne Brownfield also had 24 points and eight rebounds. Ryan McCullough had his usual fine floor game with nine points, seven assists and six rebounds. Hunter Sturgeon added six rebounds.
The Blue Devils — who made 12 three-pointers and shot 52 percent from the field — improve to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. Southern leads the league at 4-0, followed by Lisbon and Wellsville (5-1) and Valley Christian (5-2).
Leetonia drops to 5-7 overall and 2-6 in league play.
Lisbon jumped out to a 10-0 lead before the Bears got on the board with a pair of Dylan Lennon free throws with 3:55 to play in the first quarter.
Siefke had his third three-pointer in the opening 4 1/2 minutes and McCullough and Brownfield each added three-pointers to put the Blue Devils ahead 23-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Lennon paced Leetonia with 11 points. Ian Davis added 10 points and Jaedon Finley nine.
Leetonia won the junior varsity game, 38-36, in overtime. Leetonia outscored Lisbon 10-0 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 33-33.
Noah Riffee and Ashbee Merritt each scored 12 points for the Bears. Logan Stauffer had 13 points and Austin Dailey 12 for the Blue Devils.
Lisbon will host Urban Scholars Academy on Thursday, while Leetonia entertains Valley Christian on Friday.

West Branch 55, Marlington 45
ALLIANCE — Junior Jaxon Hendershott made eight three-pointers and scored 30 points in leading West Branch past Marlington, 55-45, in Eastern Buckeye Conference play Tuesday.
Dru DeShields added 11 points to the winning effort.
West Branch improves to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the EBC. Marlington drops to 3-11 and 2-6 in league play.
The Dukes won the junior varsity game, 36-26.
Marlington will play at Salem on Friday, while West Branch travels to Canton South on Tuesday.

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville took a 23-10 lead in the first quarter and downed United, 69-57, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Tuesday.
Luke Green led the charge with a game-high 26 points and 14 rebounds. Isaiah Greathouse collected 13 points and six assists and Jaxon Brewer 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
The Tigers improve to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in league play. The Eagles drop to 3-8 and 2-4 EOAC.
Keaton Baker scored 17 points and Steffen Jarrett 16 to lead United.
Wellsville will host East Palestine on Friday and United on Saturday.
United will play at Columbiana on Friday.
