Warriors stumble in EBC tilt

MARLINGTON–The West Branch girls basketball team fell to Marlington 52-42 on Saturday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play. West Branch scored just 14 points in the first half and could not recover.

For the Warriors (11-4, 5-3), Sydney Mercer and Jillian Pidgeon finished with 11 points each.

For Marlington (11-1, 6-0), Chelsea Evanich recorded 15 points and nine rebounds.

West Branch will travel to Western Reserve on Monday.

In jayvee action, West Branch won 41-37.

HANOVERTON–The United Eagles picked up a solid win over the East Liverpool Potters 43-36 on Saturday. United improves to 10-4.

Grace Knight led the Eagles with 17 points.

Mikayla Reed led the Potters with 17 points.

In jayvee action, East Liverpool won 42-34. For East Liverpool, Nevaeh Chavis had 12 points. For United, Grayson Kidder had 15 points.

United will travel to Valley Christian today.

EAST PALESTINE–East Palestine recovered from a five-point halftime deficit to defeat Lisbon 55-39 on Saturday.

For East Palestine (3-0), Joclyn Fristik had 17 points and Payton Sherry and Mia Lee had 15 and 14 points, respectively.

For Lisbon, Parker Henthorne had 12 points and seven rebounds. Morgan Lively added seven points and nine rebounds.

Lisbon will host Columbiana today.

In jayvee action, Lisbon won 26-23. For Lisbon, Cami Freeland had 15 points and for East Palestine Leila Martin and Gabby Andre each had seven points.

SALINEVILLE–Columbiana moved past Southern on Saturday, defeating the Indians 66-34.

The Clippers used a 28-point third quarter to run away with the game.

For Columbiana, Tori Long had a game-high 28 points. Grace Witmer had 12 points, seven rebounds, five steals and 10 assists and Cassie Spaite had 13 points, three rebounds and four steals.

For Southern, Ashley Shroades recorded 16 points, 15 rebounds and four steals.

Southern will host Heartland Christian on Tuesday.

Columbina will travel to Lisbon today.

Leetonia falls to 7-5 overall and 4-4 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

For Leetonia, Megan Rosko had nine points and ten rebounds and Samantha Schneider added seven points.

For Valley, Kristen Gill had 21 points.

Leetonia will host East Palestine on Monday.

In jayvee action, Leetonia won 19-8. For Leetonia, Kayla Kaminski had five points and for Valley, Keira Douglas had four points.
