Quakers to begin at Branch
BELOIT — West Branch and Salem will be among the schools competing in the Div. II sectional wrestling tournament on Saturday at West Branch High School.
The tournament will be run in a split session format. Weight classes from 106 to 145 will begin at 9 a.m. and will wrestle until conclusion.
The 152 through 285 classes will wrestle starting at 4 p.m.
Action will be held on three mats.
Other schools in the sectional include: Alliance, Akron Hoban, Canfield, Cloverleaf, Field, Girard, Howland, Louisville, Marlington and Poland.
The top four wrestlers in each class will advance to the Perry district set for March 5-6.
Area Div. III wrestling programs will be split up at sectionals this season.
Crestview, Lisbon, East Palestine, South Range, Southern, United and Wellsville will compete on Saturday at Rootstown High School. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m. there.
Rounding out the Rootstown sectional are: Canton Central Catholic, Southington, Chippewa, Rootstown, Waterloo and Western Reserve.
Columbiana is assigned to Northwestern High School for its sectional. Bouts begin at 9 a.m. there as well.
Other teams in the Northwestern sectional are: Crestwood, Dalton, Hillsdale, Jackson-Milton, Loudonville, Mapleton, Northwestern, Norwayne, Orrville, Rittman, Smithville and Waynedale.
The top four finishers in each of those sectionals will advance to the Garfield Heights district set for March 5-6.
