Warriors rout Cowboys
BELOIT — West Branch got 12 players in the scorebook as the Warriors knocked off Youngstown Chaney 67-9 on Wednesday in a Div. II sectional opener.
Sydney Mercer and Anna Lippiatt had nine points each for the Warriors, 19-5. Mercer also had seven rebounds.
Chaney is 4-14.
West Branch, the fifth seed, will host Alliance on Saturday.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s girls basketball team stopped Pymatuning Valley 56-37 on Wednesday in a Div. III sectional opener.
The Clippers got 24 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals from Tori Long. Senior Grace Witmer had 12 points, 11 assists, 11 steals and four rebounds. Cassie Spaite added 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Columbiana is at East Palestine today for a game that will decide the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title.
The Clippers will be at Champion for a sectional final on Saturday.
South Range 53, Crestwood 14
GREENFORD — South Range’s girls basketball showed why it’s the overall No. 1 seed in the Div. III district by dismantling Crestwood 53-14 on Wednesday in a sectional opener.
The Raiders will host No. 22 seed Mineral Ridge on Saturday in a sectional final. If Range wins that contest, it will meet host the winner of Saturday’s East Palestine-Berkshire game in the district semifinal.
Western Reserve 63, Wellsville 12
BERLIN CENTER — Western Reserve ran past Wellsville 63-12 on Wednesday in a Div. IV sectional opener.
No. 2 seed Western Reserve will host No. 21 seed Ashtabula St. John on Saturday in the sectional final.
Dani Vuletich had 19 points and seven boards for the winners. Kennedy Miller added seven points and seven assists.
Brooke Schantz had six steals.
Wellsville was led by Kaylee Rawson’s six points.

LEETONIA — Is there anything better to watch than the balancing bears?
Tenth-seeded Leetonia had four players score in double figures to beat 11th-seeded Middlefield Cardinal, 58-48, in a Division IV sectional opener Wednesday.
Taran Ferry led the charge with 16 points, nine rebounds and three rebounds. Allison Francosky added 12 points , Haleigh Brock 11 points and Ella Gregorino 10 points, five assists and three steals. Samantha Schneider contributed nine rebounds and three steals.
Leetonia (14-7) will play at fourth-seeded East Canton at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Bears led 37-28 at halftime.
Haley Domen topped the Huskies with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

CORTLAND — Seventh-seeded Maplewood knocked off 16th-seeded Lisbon, 66-17, in a Division IV sectional opener Wednesday.
Maplewood will host 13th-seeded Southern Local at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Blue Devils wrapped up their season with a 5-14 record.
YOUNGSTOWN — Heartland Christian exited the Div. IV sectional tournament with a 68-23 loss to Bristol on Wednesday.
No. 9 seed Valley Christian will travel to No. 5 seed Bristol on Saturday in the sectional final.
Newton Falls 65,
NEWTON FALLS — Sebring’s girls basketball team bowed out of the Div. IV sectional tournament with a 65-29 loss to Newton Falls on Wednesday.
No. 3 seed Newton Falls will host No. 12 seed Lowellville on Saturday in the sectional final.
