Lew Speece meet canceled

BERLIN CENTER — The Lew Speece Invitational scheduled for today at Western Reserve High School has been canceled due to frigid temperatures in the forecast.

“We looked at the National Weather Service temps and wind chill projections and determined we did not want to put 15 schools’ student-athletes at risk for injury,” Western Reserve athletic director Alan Mikovich said.

The track meet was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

BW won’t play Mount

BEREA — The Mount Union at Baldwin Wallace football scheduled for April 9 has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols at Baldwin Wallace.

The game will not be made up. The Purple Raiders will finish the spring season April 16 with the division crossover game with an opponent and location to be announced.

It is the second straight cancellation for Baldwin Wallace, whose March 26 game was called off due to COVID-19 protocols at Muskingum.
