Clippers lead EOAC
SALINEVILLE — Columbiana freshman Alex Eusebio tossed a one-hitter as Columbiana blanked Southern Local, 4-0, in a battle of Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference unbeatens Tuesday.
The Clippers got an unearned run in the second inning and that’s all Eusebio needed as he allowed only a double to Timmy West.
The Clippers improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the EOAC, while the Indians drop to 6-4 and 2-1 EOAC.
Columbiana’s Logan Houschar hit a two-run double in the top of the sixth to close out the scoring.
Joey Wilczak went 2-for-3, while Brady Kridler and Seth Spooner each singled, drove in a run and scored another.
Spooner scored the Clippers’ first run in the second inning. With bases loaded and no outs, an infield error on a double-play ball brought home Spooner. Southern pitcher Josh Pratt got out of the innining with no more damage thanks to two strikeouts and a flyout to center field.
Timmy West reached base three times for the Indians — on a double, walk and hit by pitch — and stole two bases.
The teams will play at Columbiana’s Firestone Park today.
