Salem suffers defeat

SALEM — Salem’s softball team let a one-run lead get away in the fifth as the Quakers fell to Carrollton 6-3 on Tuesday.

Chase Toy had two hits and an RBI for Salem.

Rylie Troy and Dorothy Moore had doubles for the Quakers, 2-6.

GREENFORD — Poland scored an important 8-7 victory over South Range in Northeast 8 play on Tuesday.

Poland (7-1, 5-0) got two hits and five RBIs from Jackie Grisdale in the win.

South Range was led by Bree Kohler’s two triples and two RBIs. Juli Stachowicz had a double, single and two RBIs.

South Range is 9-2, 2-1.

The two teams play today at Poland.

BROOKFIELD — Crestview pushed two runs past in the sixth inning to beat Brookfield 3-1 on Tuesday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play.

Kaedyn Sutton struck out 12 on the mound for the Rebels.

Rebel hits came from Sutton, Joanie Wood and Madalyn Black.

Crestview is 6-3 and is at Jackson-Milton Thursday.

LISBON — McKenna Dailey had two hits and two RBIs, while Mallory Gallo chipped in two more hits as Lisbon downed East Palestine 10-1 on Tuesday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Lisbon is 5-3 and 5-0. The Devils will be at East Palestine today.

Justyce Vrable added a triple for the winners. Morgan Lively had a double.

Joclyn Fristik had two hits for the Bulldogs.

BELOIT — West Branch’s softball rose above the .500 mark with a 12-2 win over Canton South on Tuesday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

Jordan Anderson had a single, home run and four RBIs for the winners. Ryley Pittman had a single, home run and an RBI. Tori McKay had two hits as did Morgan Loudon.

West Branch is 5-4, 2-1 and is at Carrollton today.
