Quakers disassemble Lordstown

SALEM — Hannah Kelm had three hits and an RBI and Rylie Troy earned a complete-game victory and homered as Salem downed Lordstown, 6-1, Saturday.

Chase Toy doubled and singled for the Quakers. Troy and Kylie Skinner each had two hits and Lauryn Barton doubled and drove in a run.

The win pushed coach Mike Thorpe to the most career wins at Salem, passing Don Conser.

Salem (5-15) is scheduled to host East Liverpool at 5 p.m. today at Southeast Elementary for senior night.

South Range sweeps

CANFIELD — The South Range softball team showed why it is ranked eighth in the Division III state poll Saturday.

The Raiders hit six home runs — three by Jillian Strecansky, allowed seven hits and no walks, and did not commit an error in two more wins — 7-0 over Boardman and 12-1 in six innings over Warren Harding.

Against Harding, Strecansky was 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs, Juli Stachowicz also hit two home runs and Bree Kohler had a grand slam and drove in another run.

Reagan Irons went the distance for the victory.

Kohler also shined in the first game, striking out 10 in a two-hitter.

Strecansky had two hits, including a home run, and scored two runs. Samantha Susany went 2-for-2 with two runs.

The Raiders improve to 19-3 on the season.

LIBERTY — East Palestine scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 9-2 win over Liberty on Saturday.

Joclyn Fristik tripled, singled, drove in two runs and scored two more for the Bulldogs. Morgan Rutledge collected two hits and three runs. Gabby Andre and Alexis Robb each had two hits and two RBIs.

Madison Telischak went the distance for the victory.

East Palestine (6-10) will host Southern Local today.
