For the second consecutive year, the COVID-19 pandemic and its protocol restrictions has caused the cancellation of the annual Jack Arvin All-Star Football Classic.

The game typically pits senior all-stars from Mahoning and Columbiana counties against those from Trumbull County in what, for some of the participants, is the final time they put on their pads and compete on a football field.

Though the game will not be played, coaches were asked to nominate up to three senior players to be recognized as Arvin Classic nominees.

The event is put together by the Mahoning Valley Coaches Association which has been supporting athletic programs in the Mahoning Valley for 50 years.
