West Branch bests Potters

BELOIT — West Branch downed East Liverpool 4-1 on Monday.

West Branch is 6-2 and 5-0 in the North East Tennis League.

West Branch hosts Canton South today.

Heck’s serving up some golf

COLUMBIANA — Entries are still being taken for the 35th annual Heck’s Restaurant golf scramble. The three-man amateur event will be played Saturday at Valley Golf Club.

There will be prizes on every hole totaling over $1,000 in merchandise (based on 36 teams) plus $5,000 cash prizes for the first holes-in-one on the second and fourth holes, compliments of Heck’s owner Tom Yoder and Valley.

There will be two shotgun starts, at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Cost is $60 per person which includes greens fees, cart, sandwich, pop and snacks and a barbecue beef buffet served at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Suburban League

The Suburban League has a little different schedule this week with two cross country meets today and one on Wednesday.

Poland and Champion will host meets today and Columbiana on Wednesday.

The Ward Athletic Complex will host Columbiana, Southern Local, East Liverpool, Boardman, Chaney, Fitch, Jackson-Milton, Mooney, Newton Falls, Ursuline and Youngstown East on Wednesday.

The race schedule both days are 4:45 p.m. for high school girls, 5:20 p.m. for high school boys, 5:50 p.m. for middle school boys and 6:10 p.m. for middle school girls.

Raiders shock Ravens

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Derek Carr threw a 31-yard TD pass to Zay Jones after the Raiders squandered their first possession of overtime, beating the Baltimore Ravens 33-27 on Monday night in the team’s first game with fans in Las Vegas.

Carr’s second TD pass of the game came after Carl Nassib’s strip sack of Lamar Jackson at the Ravens 27.
