Leetonia will play on Saturday

WELLSVILLE — Leetonia’s football team is getting some extra time to prepare for Wellsville.

The Bears and Tigers were originally scheduled to meet on Friday but the game has been moved to 7 p.m. Saturday at Nicholson Stadium to allow for more Leetonia players to emerge from quarantine.

COVID issues prevented Leetonia (1-4) from playing Columbiana last Friday.

Wellsville (3-4) is coming off a Saturday game with Valley Christian. The Tigers are 18th in Div. VII, Region 25 and will likely have a clear understanding of its playoff chances by game time on Saturday as most of the other teams in the running for the final playoff spots play on Friday night.

OHSAA says no to moving match

BELOIT — The West Branch athletic department appealed to the Ohio High School Athletic Association to hold tonight’s Div. II sectional final volleyball match with Salem at West Branch. That appeal was denied and the two teams will play at 7:30 p.m. at Mentor Lake Catholic as originally planned. Tickets are only available at ohsaa.org.
