Warriors get first EBC win

MINERVA — West Branch won its Eastern Buckeye Conference opener 48-35 over Minerva on Tuesday.

The Warriors are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the EBC.

Sammi Beatty had 18 points including four threes. Audrey Eaton added nine points, while Alli Kanagy had seven points. Mati Hawk had five points.

West Branch held a 16-8 first quarter lead and extended that lead to 23-14 at the break. Minerva cut the lead to 25-23 in the third quarter before West Branch went on a big run to lead 44-27 with four minutes to go in the game.

West Branch hosts Struthers on Monday.

West Branch won the jayvee game, 37-17. Sydney Lane had nine points.

CAMPBELL — Campbell Memorial secured its first win of the season as the Red Devils beat East Palestine 25-20 on Tuesday.

East Palestine (1-1) was coming off a win over Mathews on Monday.

Campbell is 1-1.

Rayona Floyd Brown and Amira Kamal each had seven points for the winners.

Jacklyn Ogle led East Palestine with 11 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.

The Bulldogs host Toronto on Dec. 4.

COLUMBIANA — The Crestview girls opened their season by scoring 19 straight points and beating Howland, 70-39, Tuesday.

Addison Rhodes scored a game-high 34 points, including 13 points during the Rebels’ 19-0 start.

The Rebels, who lost one player to graduation from last season’s 25-1 squad, had three players in double figures. Luvrain Gaskins contributed 16 points and Ava Bucey 10.

Crestview led 44-21 at halftime and 59-38 through three quarters.

Howland won the two-quarter junior varsity game 20-8. Lainey Milhoan had four points for Crestview.

The Rebels will host Springfield on Tuesday.
