Clippers light it up vs. Jays

NORTH JACKSON –Columbiana opened the season wtih a 78-57 win over Jackson-Milton on Tuesday.

Seth Struharik paved the way for the Clippers with 29 points, while Senator Johnson had 21 points. Cooper Brown had 10 points. Reese Roush chipped in six rebounds.

The Bluejays got 39 points from Ryen Romigh.

Columbiana won the jayvee portion, 42-33.

Trey Snyder had 15 points, while Carter Johnson added 12 points.

Columbiana (1-0) hosts Urban Scholars on Friday.

ALLIANCE — United took it on the chin 58-10 on Tuesday in its boys basketball season opener against Marlington.

Parker Woods led the winners with 12 points, five assists and five steals. Cameron Evanich had 12 points and six rebounds, while Sam Yoder added eight points and 10 boards.

Marlington is 2-0.

United hosts Heartland Christian on Friday.

Southern 78, Sebring 55

SALINEVILLE — Braxton Sloan had 22 points, six assists and two steals as Southern stopped Sebring 78-55 on Tuesday.

Landen Heffner added 16 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Mason Pitts had 14 points and eight boards. Aaron Keoppel had seven rebounds.

Southern is 1-1 and hosts Edison next Tuesday.

For Sebring, Kaleb Rowles and Tre Stevens had 16 points each.

Sebring won the jayvee game, 18-16. Ben Paxson and Logan Moore had six points each for Southern.

TORONTO — Toronto gained a 62-39 win over Wellsville on Tuesday in the season opener for both schools.

The Red Knights outscored the Tigers 33-16 in the second half to pull away.

Crestview 67, Springfield 24

COLUMBIANA — Crestview’s girls basketball team surged to a 67-24 victory over Springfield on Tuesday.

Addison Rhodes led the way with 31 points, four assists and six steals. Luvrain Gaskins had 16 points, while Brianna DiCross had four assists and 10 steals.

Crestview (2-0) will be at Boardman on Saturday.

The Rebels won the jayvee game, 45-15. Brianna Baker had 14 points, while Lainey Milhoan added 11 points. Katie McKay had 10 points.
