Quakers steal the show vs. Beavers

SALEM — Colin Riesen had 19 points and Ben Severe added 17 more as Salem scored a 67-64 upset win over Beaver Local on Saturday.
Deontay Steele added 13 points for the Quakers, 6-13.
Beaver Local fell to 13-5 and are 1-2 against Eastern Buckeye Conference teams this season.
Luke Rettos had 21 points to lead Beaver Local, while Owen Hill added 20 points.
Salem hosts West Branch on Friday.
Beaver Local will host Hubbard on Tuesday.

EAST PALESTINE — Freshman Braxton Sloan sparkled with 22 points, five rebounds and five assists in Southern’s 58-46 win over East Palestine on Saturday.
Aaron Keoppel added 14 points for the winners, 7-10 overall and 5-6 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. Mason Pitts added nine points and seven rebounds.
For East Palestine, Owen Jurjavcic had 13 points, seven boards and three steals. Drew Bycroft added 12 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals. Kyler Bourne had 11 points and 10 boards with Clark Rutledge having six points and three rebounds.
East Palestine (7-9, 4-8) will play at Leetonia on Tuesday.
Southern hosts United on Tuesday.
No jayvee game was played.

YOUNGSTOWN — East Liverpool’s boys basketball team added another big road with a 60-44 victory at Youngstown Cardinal Mooney on Saturday.
Nate Birch led the Potter attack with 20 points, while Blake Adkins added 13 points. Cohen Pease chipped in 12 points.
East Liverpool is 14-5, having won three straight on the road.
The Potters will try to avenge an early season loss to Steubenville on Friday at Potter Fieldhouse.
East Liverpool won the jayvee game, 48-43. Dre’keim Abercrombie led the way with 15 points. Dre Brown added 11 points.
