KENSTON — Salem’s wrestling team booked four spots at the state tournament after action on Saturday at the Div. II district tournament at Kenston High School.

Senior Aiden Stecker was the lone Quaker weight class winner as he scored 26 total points on his way to the 165-pound title. Stecker (45-4) is making his third appearance at state. Last year her went at 175.

The top four finishers in each weight class are headed to the state tournament set for March 7-9 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.

Finishing runner-up for the Quakers was junior Will Harmon (39-9) at 157. Harmon came into the tournament seeded ninth.

Senior Joey Kana (38-12) will return to state for the Quakers after placing fourth at 138. He was also seeded ninth coming into the tournament.

Senior Shawn German (42-7) rounded out the state qualifying contingent for the Quakers as he was fourth at 150.

West Branch will be represented by junior Gavin Hang (40-6) at the state tournament as he was third at 215 pounds. Hang had four pins in 12:58 through the tournament.

INDEPENDENCE — Southern Local was the only are Div. III team to qualify wrestlers to the state tournament on Saturday at the Independence district meet.

Senior Johnny Bailey (43-2) won at 190 pounds and will return to the state meet for the second straight season.

Junior Rowan Wiley (31-12) grabbed his first state berth with a third-place showing at 165.

In the Coshocton district, no one from United or Crestview was in the top four in order to qualify for the state meet set for March 7-9 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.
