SALEM — The Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation is raffling off a two-year lease on a 2018 Buick Encore SUV, courtesy of the Stadium GM Superstore in Salem, all to raise funds for the foundation and forward the hospital’s cause.

“This is huge for us. Stadium being a local company, they didn’t even hesitate when I called. They just made it so easy for the Foundation to partner with them for our first car raffle,” SRMC Director of Development Amy Reed said.

The tax-deductible raffle tickets are $50 each and can be purchased from now until March 16 at the Stadium GM Superstore on West State Street, and the Look Nook gift shop and the SRMC Development office, both at SRMC, on East State Street.

Tickets will be available in the SRMC cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday and on Feb. 23 and March 9. The drawing will be held during the Eighth Annual Hearts & Stars Gala on March 17 at the The Vineyards at Pine Lake in Columbiana.

The winner doesn’t have to be present during the drawing, but will be responsible for all taxes, tag and title fees when the vehicle is delivered. According to a press release describing the vehicle, “the 2019 Buick Encore SUV has a black cherry exterior and comes equipped with Buick’s ‘Preferred II Trim’ upgraded features package, which includes enhanced safety technology; a 120-volt power outlet; dual-zone climate control; and a remote vehicle starter system.”

A limited number of tickets will be sold for the raffle, which will support the hospital’s continued growth and mission “to serve, to care, to heal.”

Navarro said the donation is meant to help the hospital.

“I think it’s the right thing to do. We’re all part of the community here,” he said.

Reed was looking for something different for a fundraiser this year and for a way to partner with somebody in the community.

“What better prize to win than to be able to drive for free for two years,” she said.

George Morris III serves on the board of the SRMC Foundation and as chairman of special events for the SRMC Foundation.

“I think certainly it’s an exciting time to serve and be a part of the SRMC Board,” he said. “The organization has matured to levels that we can do bigger and better things for the community, as enhanced by the support shown by Stadium.”

Tickets for the gala, which is the Foundation’s signature event, will go on sale in early February. The cost will be $75 each. For information on the vehicle raffle, call Reed at 330-337-2883.
