About 12:30 a.m. Saturday, West Point firefighters were notified by passers-by of a blaze at a vacant farmhouse at the corner of East Liverpool and Torma roads in Madison Township. They arrived to find it fully engulfed with the roof collapsing shortly after their arrival. The farmhouse, which had been remodeled by John Wheatley, along with a large barn was sold to Fourche Creek Lamb and Cattle Inc., owned by Craig Huckshold of Lisbon. Huckshold and his wife had kept horses on the property initially and currently just had one horse in the barn. The barn was not damaged and the horse was unharmed. According to Huckshold, he had a person currently interested in buying the house at 13675 East liverpool Road. Since the house was unoccupied, it was uninsured. West Point firefighters were assisted by Glenmoor firefighters and Lisbon was on standby on their floor for West Point. (Salem News photo by Patti Schaeffer)
