LISBON -- Katelyn Dickey has filed paperwork to run for Columbiana County Municipal Court judge.
Dickey served as a probation officer and then staff attorney in county Common Pleas Court. She was appointed domestic relations magistrate last March but was let go in January. She was hired immediately as an assistant county prosecutor.
"I've had experience with nearly every part of the Columbiana County legal system," Dickey said, in a news release. "My experience in Columbiana County as a magistrate, staff attorney, probation officer, and now as an assistant prosecutor make me the best person for this job. When I'm judge, I'll follow the Constitution and give criminals the sentences they deserve."
Dickey is running as a Republican for the judgeship being vacated by Judge Mark Frost. Perry Township attorney Vito Abruzzino has also filed to seek the Republican nomination for the same judgeship.
Dickey is a graduate of Crestview High School, where she was class valedictorian. Dickey was a scholarship athlete at Gannon University in Erie, Pa., where she graduated cum laude. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron Law School.
She and her husband live in Elkrun Township where they are raising their two children. Dickey is a member of the Columbiana County Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbiana County Farm Bureau.
