GOSHEN TOWNSHIP -- A 9-year-old boy was killed Wednesday evening in an ATV accident in Goshen Township.

The victim was identified by Goshen police as Brock Mason.

According to WKBN First News, the boy was struck and killed at his Middletown Road home at about 7 p.m.

Police told WKBN that the boy's father was driving an ATV and entering a detached garage when Brock moved into the path of the ATV. He was struck and later pronounced dead at Salem Regional Medical Center.

No charges have been filed. The father voluntarily gave a urine sample, WKBN reported.

An accident reconstruction team from highway patrol was called to the scene and will continue the investigation.

Brock was a student of Damascus Elementary School, WKBN said. Counselors will be available Friday in the school library, according to the school district.

West Branch's superintendent, Timothy Saxton, released a statement after the tragedy: "We are all feeling the overwhelming grief of this tragic event. We stand ready to assist students, parents and community members with support needed at this time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family in their time of need."
