Dahlia Society to meet at Boardman church
BOARDMAN--The Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society will host their next meeting at 2 p.m. on Sunday at The Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road in Boardman. A program on growing, harvesting and decorating gourds will be followed by a question and answer session on the dahlia season so far.
Farm Bureau plans 'watershed moment'
CANFIELD--The Mahoning County Farm Bureau will host an interactive event from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 22 at Mill Creek MetroParks Farms, 7574 Columbiana Canfield Road to bring collaborators together with landowners to create that "watershed moment," while shedding light on the need to protect and improve water quality throughout Mahoning County.
The event will incorporate activities such as drone demonstrations, soil sampling, a composting seminar and precision ag equipment demonstrations. Throughout the event, the focus will be on everyone's effect on water quality, whether a landowner fertilizing a lawn or a farmer spreading nutrients on fields.

Columbiana Meals on Wheels plans Middlefield trip
COLUMBIANA--Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels is sponsoring a bus trip to Middlefield, Ohio Saturday, Aug. 5. The trip will feature cheese, chocolates, wine and an Amish wedding dinner feast. Cost is $80 per person and seating is limited. To make a reservation or for information call 330-482-0366.
Monday Night Writers to meet at Canfield library branch
CANFIELD--The next meeting of Monday Night Writers will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 19 in the Small Meeting Room at the Canfield Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County, 43 W Main St. Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to attend.
Led by professional writer Nancy Christie, author of "Traveling Left Of Center And Other Stories," the two-hour sessions offer an opportunity for members to get group feedback on 'works-in-progress.'

Youngstown Saxon Band to perfrom in Salem
SALEM--The Youngstown Saxon Band under the direction of Salem's John Krauss will be performing at the Summer Concert Series at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Orashan Memorial Civic Center at Waterworth Memorial Park. The band is dedicated to the continuation and promotion of their Transylvanian Saxon cultural musical heritage. Their music includes polkas, waltzes and marches from Germany, Austria and Eastern European countries.
The event is free. There will be a 50/50 drawing and prizes donated by local businesses. A food vendor will also be available. Visitors may bring their own picnic, but are reminded alcoholic beverages are prohibitted.
